Leaf Pile TV interviews "The Fall of Troy" May 06th

May 06, 2008 by Leaf

The Fall of Troy entered the studio with Matt Bayles (Botch, Mastodon, Isis) in December, where the producer helped to cull the trio's current struggles and discontents into 12 ear-bending tracks that blatantly ignore typical song structure, instead propelling themselves in exact opposite direction that one expects. The best parts of Doppelganger are there- the pounding drums, the insane guitar work, the juxtaposition between melodic mellifluousness and violent aggression- but Manipulator evolves the band's sound several levels ahead, achieving the near impossibility of making cacophony and chaos seem beautiful.

"We're a band that's always pushed our own boundaries and everybody expectations of us," Erak says. "You're always going to get something that you don't expect with a Fall of Troy record. That's what our angle is. We want to destroy everyone's vision of what our band is in order to be able to do what we want, but not define ourselves so we can stay progressive and stay new."

Leaf Pile TV interviews "Meg and Dia" February 08th

Jan 13, 2009 by Leaf

How it all started: “For Christmas when we were kids, ironically Dia got the guitar and I got the karaoke machine. We quickly learned, however, what we were natural at and destined to become. She became really focused on her voice and began singing little country ditties at local county fairs and retirement centers. I started out playing whatever was on the radio or whatever happened to be in my buddies' CD player. My dad was a DJ in his early twenties so he had quite an extensive record collection that I listened to occasionally. After I experienced my first heartbreak and I thought the world was going to end, the natural way to console my tattered heart was to write a song. Of course my parents, being the supportive and loving caretakers they are, showered me with much undeserved praise and encouraged me to keep writing. My sister and I heeded their advice and began writing and playing original songs together." – Meg

Leaf Pile TV interviews "Nonpoint" February 3rd

February 3, 2009 by Leaf

Following the release of their widely acclaimed, “TO THE PAIN” (2005) with the break-out single “Bullet With A Name”, the pressure to create a successful follow-up might be daunting to some artists, but for Nonpoint, it is simply a matter of moving forward. In late 2007, they entered Bieler Bros. studios to co-produce “VENGEANCE” with Matt LaPlant (SikTH), only to deliver their boldest and most aggressive effort yet. Not to be outdone by previous radio success, the lead single, “March of War” has quickly become the fastest rising Nonpoint single ever, debuting on the active rock charts in only its first week of release and entering the top 30 in only 3 weeks.

Leaf Pile TV interviews "Dope" April 6th

April 06, 2009 by Leaf

In the ever-changing world of rock music, one band has held a steady hand. Living in a world of their own design, and made for their fans, DOPE has managed to lay waste to comparisons, musical or otherwise, since their creation a decade ago. The Chicago-based rockers have, in the words of their frontman and band namesake Edsel Dope, "seen it all." And it's this attitude from which the band draws upon on “No Regrets,” their fifth album, and first for E1 Music (formerly known as KOCH Records). “’No Regrets’ is not only a commentary on where we have been, but also where we are headed,” says Dope.

Leaf Pile TV interviews "The Maine" April 30th

April 22, 2009 by Leaf

The Maine formed in January of 2007. After junior year, when most students look forward to slacking off as seniors, The Maine asked two members to graduate early so that they can share their music with the rest of the world. You see, seven periods a day is just seven periods too long for The Maine who can't wait to get home to write more tunes. Bassist Garrett Nickelsen honestly states, "School has never really been number one for me, I have always tried to focus on the band so I'm ready to really get this band going." Now already juggling music video shoots, recording sessions and concerts, The Maine actually had the ink dry on their record contract before it dries on their diploma. The Maine started when Pat and Garret were sick of jumping from garage band to garage band and wanted to take their unique vision of what music should be to the big time. John, Kennedy and Jarred all had similar ideas and the band knew they had the final line up as the hits and lyrics kept writing themselves. The Maine didn't want to continue in the screamo trend that they felt was swallowing their local music scene. They wanted to create a new sound and began drawing influences from 90's radio alternative bands. Meshing styles like indie, pop and rock can sound forced, often imitating other bands without a hint of originality, but for The Maine mixing a wide variety of genres just sounds natural. Every Maine song begs for an immediate repeat.
